Well my grandkids wanted to know if I could make some bangles out of wood for them to sell and make money. I found a pattern on Sue Mey’s site. There were 15 different designs and three siges, sm, med, and lg. I have to say they were not that easy to make. Very slow process. Uses 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 4 inch square. Made some out of Walnut, Cherry and Birch, also made two out of Cedar and Butternut which I didn't take a picture of. Used a #7 skip blade8 points

red river and 3 others reacted to Allen levine for a topic
After our week in the Amish area of pa i saw a lot of pieces of art this one caught my eye because it gives me scroll/fret practice the one I saw was black metal on rough oak I picked up a piece of 3/8 inch ply that was the base top of a pallet that had tiles on it insaw it next to dumpster and the contractor told me take it all but with my back I only took the 4x4 piece of plywood it had some stains but I cut the best piece of it had a lot of shorts from cedar decking I used for my sons outdoor furniture and some bird houses so I used them as a back its raised a bit with 1/2 inch dowels its basically finished but I want to clean up the black painted surface and spray some polyurethane have a look the original is also shown4 points -

I “decided” to add some Tolkien to my favorite clock today. “I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” - J.R.R. Tolkien2 points

WOW - I need to read the fine print - Could get expensive ! Thanks for that "Heads Up" - BTW - I verified the site, and this information is accurate.2 points

Just curious about Excalibur/Pegas
OCtoolguy and one other reacted to ScrollerGuy for a topic
I believe the Grizzly G0969 21-inch saw is another Excalibur/Pegas clone and may be a source for parts. The parts page with diagrams for this saw is here: https://www.grizzly.com/products/g0969/parts2 points -
That's another 3 people on my don't Bother list, People ask for patterns then Me and other designers spend our time doing them for nothing then they don't come back on the forum for weeks on end...... rant over1 point

Ok, for anybody who has been following this thread and is interested, I just went through the entire parts list along with numbers and sizes etc. between the Excalibur owner's manual and the Jet owner's manual. The list of parts is exactly the same for the basic saws. If Jet changed anything on theirs, I didn't find it. Anyway, the bearings and sleeves appear to be exactly the same for both saws. I found a supplier online for the bearings and I think it is the same supplier that I have had some correspondence with. They are VXB in Los Angeles. Right now, unless my figures are wrong, a person can purchase all the bearings necessary to rebuild their Excalibur saws for $62.67 plus tax and shipping. As for the sleeves, I will have to contact Jet to see what they are going to charge for those parts. I would be surprised if they are going to charge more than Dewalt and probably will charge less. Who knows? I'll try to contact them tomorrow and see. I'll be back, so the saying goes.1 point

Paul, you have provided many, many, MANY excellent patterns by request for people on this forum. I have tried but in most cases, you post an excellent pattern before I'm hardly started. Also, my patterns tend to be considerably more difficult as that is the style I like to cut. I'm just a novice at making patterns where you are a master. It's a shame so many don't give you the credit due for your hard work. You have helped me with a few pieces and I am deeply grateful.1 point

Thanks, after reading your comments, I think that it's not for me yet. But I will keep the instructions for later on.1 point

Compound Bangles

Very Well Done. . . .And the quote is so true!1 point

Too bad it's Sue May ( I don't like the conditions of use; 1 pattern = 10 items, 2nd purchased pattern = 10 additional items, if it's a hot seller, or you have lots of family, buy a commercial license, no details of what that would cost. And it's poisoned the well of pattern companies, The Winfield Collection has changed to the same concept. )1 point

@rdatelle I could not find them on Shelia Landry's site but found some on Sue Mey's site. I was hoping to see something about how it is done And there you go, answered before I got through asking!1 point

There done like a normal compound cut. Here's a sample pattern. You fold the dotted lines which go around the side of the wood your using and the circle part will be on the flat part of the wood. The only thing different with these patterns is the circle part is four inches which you really can't drill through so what you do is once the pattern is glued on the wood, you cut it in half on the solid line. You now have two separate pieces to work on. Once cut out you glue the two rings back together to get your bangle. Then sand it. Hope that helps.1 point

Wow... Just curious to know how are they done on the scroll saw? Any tutorial available?1 point

So, I tried the garment bag. It worked well, no ornaments came loose after riding around in the truck for a couple of days. The style of garment bag that I used ( side zipper that came about 3/4 of the way up the side of the bag ), was not the style to use, I need to try one with the zipper that goes to the top of the side, or up the middle of the front. Another change was to drill 3/32" holes in the hanger instead of notching the top. When I loaded the hangers in the bag I placed T-shirts in-between each hanger with ornaments. I also use shawls to display shawl pins, so those could be used for padding as well.1 point

They also have a nice individual parts list.. it'd be really nice of some of these other "supposed higher end brands" would put together a parts list and individual purchase options rather than buying the whole guts of the machine because of 1 bearing and one sleeve..1 point

I say those are really first-rate. Never have seen ones made with a scroll saw before. I'm anxious to know how well they sell. Great job!1 point

Looks great. I have lunch with a bunch of guys who are pen turners and a couple are going to bring me cutoffs. I had only one 2inch piece left over from a pen I did many years ago so I got 2 birds. I hope someone brings a chunk big enough for a Birdhouse as it is cool.1 point
