Excalibur EX-30

There's a used for one job excaliber 30 here for $750.If prayers are answered i could get this baby,whoa!

I'm happy to say that I acquired my EX30 saw when it was still made in Canada by Somerville Industries.  Now that General has shipped manufacture out of Canada, I doubt that the saws for sale now are as good as mine.

I bought mine ten 20 years ago  From Somerville Industries. and it still works fine,only had to replace one blade holder Stripped the threads.

I bought mine 13 years ago from Somerville Industries. I have modified it somewhat to suit my needs but overall it is a very good saw. If I was to buy today I would get a 21 instead of a 30.

Purchased mine in 2000. A real precision machine and a dream to work with. Very pleased and satisfied with the quality and service. What more can I say.

I have a question.  I have a chance to buy a Ex 21 new floor model.  The question I am facing is,  they are not making anymore of these saws at the present time.  To the owners of the Ex if you knew that they were going to stop making this saw would you still have purchased it?  What about parts? I here that Ray at Sayco has a ton of parts, but, sooner or later they also will be hard to get...

I really have mixed emotions at this time.  I always wanted a Ex but now I am not sure if it is the right decision.... Any and all comments welcomed.

I have been using A Dewalt for over 14 years... last summer I purchased a new EX-30... great saw... I love the depth BUT ... i seem to have a bit of a problem installing blades... many times I tighten the bottom blade .. then when I insert the top blade in the clamp and tighten the lever the blade pulls out of the top clamp... unless I loosen the arm tension a bit.... is this normal with the EX saws??   Because of this I tend to gravitate back to my DeWalt for most of my sawing.... Maybe something I have to play around with some more

I have a 21" Ex.  When I put a new blade in I put it into the top clamp first to insure it is in the top clamp with the top of the blade level with the top of the clamp.  That being, the top of the blade is as high in the clamp as the flat part that the spring back in the clamp is resting.  This extends the top of the blade about 1/4" above the screw that holds it in place.  Do not set the tension lever.  Then I feed it down through the table and clamp the bottom. I'm a bottom feeder so then I go to the top clamp and release the blade so I can start working.  So I guess I'm saying make sure the top of the blade is far enough up into the top clamp.  I also wipe the ends of the new blades with alcohol on a rag to remove the oil on them.  

You might want to restart this thread in the "General Scrolling" area or something like that.  Not many read addition to this thread unless they are looking to buy a saw.

You know I''M having same problem with my,blades on  my Ex 30.l Got new parts like the set screw and new tip on the tum screw..It keep slipping off the bottom side .Anyway replace those before all it needed,but this time the,tension is find,wipe the blades off.So I'M working on my Dewalt in till get figure out,

any resolution on the whole blade slipping issue fella's? 

I have a Axminster EX30 (UK) and love it .....the blades were fiddly at first but seem fine now, only thing I would have liked is a foot pedal but cannot fit one thanks to NVR switch fitted grrrrrrrrrr.

Also have another saw a Axminster Trade Series AWFS18  (Hegner clone) and its VERY smooth/quiet
