Two Truths & A Lie:

  1. Doug

    Roly FYI

Roly Why I like pigs (other than just for porkchops and bacon) is another story. You did your "Porky" pattern a while back which I immediately printed and cut out but without the name Porky. I called it the Happy Porkchop. My son-in-law's aunt in South Africa is dealing with the end stages of cancer and loves to collect pig things. When he said that, I sent the Happy Porkchop to him to send to his aunt. The response was that she just likes regular pigs, not ones with wings or sitting on words but cut out of a piece of wood rather than in a piece of wood. So I took my "Believe" flying pig and my napkin ring flying pig and took off the word Believe and the wings and sent them to my son-in-law so he could send a regular pig and several napkin rings as well as the Happy Porkchop to his aunt. She was totally delighted and much to the surprise of my son-in-law she liked the Happy Porkchop the best. She also names all of her pigs and without any knowledge that it was anything other than a Happy Porkchop, she named it "Porky." Long story but I did want to share it with you and let you know in addition to a Happy Porkchop at my house in Nebraska, Porky also brought enjoyment to a very ill woman in South Africa who needs all the opportunities to smile she can and its South African name is the same as the name the pattern artist gave it. A big thanks to you Roly.
  2. Busy busy busy. Great find with the shelves. Its what I like a place for everything and everything in its place. Napkin rings look great also. Marg
  3. First is the shop shelf thing I bought for $2.00 I took that apart and refinished it and now it is in use with some things like masks and other things on it plus some of my Dremel things and chuck keys on it, Next is a bracket that I made for the shelf I made a long time ago for my drum sanders for my Guinemvere sanding system. The bracket is for the pump and now there is a place for every thing. I keep the sleeves in the bowl sitting near by. Next is a letter opener and some napkin rings I made out of scrap wood. I used a forstner bit to drill the hole and traced a shape and voila napkin rings. I was blown away when I finally used my mac mop thing and it gave the letter opener and napkin rings such a nice smooth finish and now I wish I had that long time ago when I was doing some intarsia. Will have to try that again some time. Enjoy the pictures Fay

  5. Well, I have started making my Christmas bits already, starting with some "Turkey Napkin Rings". I have about 24 at the minute and have already sold 12 before they were finished, so I think I'll make a lot more before my next show. Hope you like them. Keefie
  6. I've lurked on the net so much try to find a way to make $ with the scroll saw put never even got close. Was praying today and about an hour later my friend brings in the owner of the building and occupant of the bay next to my friends.he does religous stuff.Well he looked at some of my work on the table chock full of dust and asked if i could cut composite .i admited i did'nt know what that was so he whent back to his shop mand produced some i believ corian 3/8" and 1/2".he said if you can cut this i have work for you .i asked if the work was small items he said yes.jesus fish angles crosses words. He left and i nibbled on a corner to see if the #7 scrollreverse blade would even touch it.To my amazement id not only cut it it left it baby butt smooth.ugreeka i down loaded the jesus fish and a few other things cut them and brought them over and left them with a young man as the man was busy..Time will tell but this has been the best prospect in 7 years. The last one is mdf but if he has thin corian i can cut the god is great god is good napkin holder to for him.hope i pass the test!the napkin holder is mdf 1/4" stacked
  7. Just Finished this Butterfly Napkin Holder on 1/2" Oak, pattern is from Sue Mey. Edward
  8. Hi Travis Do you have a pattern for napkin rings, I was thinking about turning some but I would prefer to scroll. I am good a turning the first one but the duplicates are tough. Thanks Don
  9. I'm working on a couple things. My main priority is a couple of wall lamps. That's mostly regular woodworking without any scrolling. But my livingroom needs extra light. For scrolling, I'm making some napkin rings for Easter and a couple bunny cutouts from some reclaimed wood fence boards.
  10. Correct and correct ,i love evrybodys chimeing in on this one!Wait till you see the napkin holders work in progress!
  11. Made these a couple of weeks ago and finally finished them for the wife . A lot of times I cut something that I want to cut for myself - and this is one of those times . Making for everybody else is alright - but sometimes I like to pick something out that interest me, I was monkeying around and cut these out of scrape 2x6 material and the pattern came from Steve Good's site .......any comments are welcome ............
  12. The original pattern called for 3/4" wood but I thought that was overkill so just used some 1/2" Oak. John Old Dust
  13. I wouldn't do flea markets. That crowd is looking for deals, not handcrafted art. You can try puzzles. Freestanding puzzles would work the best. Especially if they're of dog breeds. Some more ideas that might sell well: bowls, baskets, trivets, boxes, a few portraits (to get custom work), word art, desk name-plates with clever sayings, candle holders, napkin/paper towel holders.
  14. Way to go Marshall! You really did a nice job on the napkin holder. I can see why it got a blue ribbon! Congratulations!
  15. This is the napkin holder that took first place in the North-east Arkansas District Fair this week , I'm proud for I entered 4 projects and one took the blue Ribbon and the other three took second place Red Ribbons . Never thought that any would win anything , but now I think that next year I'll enter again for sure ............Tell me what you think ...............Marshall
