Two Truths & A Lie:

  1. This an Alex Fox design. I had a printer snafu when I printed, I guess converting A4 to US letter and everything shrunk down a tiny bit but a few adjustments and it came out well. Backer is Cherry veneer ply, baltic birch for the light layers and cherry hardwood for the ornament backers. Finished it up with Danish Oil. I stack cut the pattern so I have three done. This was a challenging cut at times but quite enjoyable. One of the three is heading to my granddaughters to start the countdown.
  2. Alex Fox recently posted a beautiful new Christmas pattern which is a Christmas calendar. I bought the pattern to make for my granddaughter. He apparently uses laminated mdf which may be easily sourced in the Ukraine but I cannot seem to find anything but 3/4 here in the US. Has anyone ever sourced the material Alex uses on this side of the pond or know if it goes by another name? Thanks for any suggestions.
  3. Here is the first completed cut of the new year. It is my first time stack cutting something this detailed but it went just fine. The wood is 1/8 cherry? I think. FD 2/0 spirals. I'm not sure how I will frame them yet. I finally found a roll of the adhesive shelf tape that so many people on the site have recommended, and THANK YOU. It will be the only thing I use for fret work from now on. The pattern came off in less than 3 minutes and all in one piece except for one tiny sail.
