Two Truths & A Lie:

  1. Just finished cutting my first Baltic Birch project and was amazed at how quickly FD Ultra Reverse blades wore out. Is this common / normal? Are there better blade choices for this wood? Thanks, Tom
  2. Evenin all (well, very early morning at any rate... I had company and we stayed up late having a painting party) Here is the snail I cut out using a coloring page I found online. It took what seemed like forever to sand those rings down where they would fit in no matter what direction they were facing, but I managed it after three mouse sheets and a lot of unladylike language.
  3. Here's a few of my completed puzzles. The penguins were first, and my first attempt at freehand. It measures about 4"X4", I found the picture in a calendar at the dollar store. I had a tiger too but the paper got wet in the humidity and wrinkled, and the cuts came out all crazy. The second is a 8"X10" Princess Bride puzzle I made for my husband. I'm still sanding the pieces, but I'm happy with how it came out. Also my first attempt with a pattern, that I measured out and drew myself. It came to 121 pieces, and the pieces are about 1/2" square. The third one I finished is the pony puzzle. Like the movie one, I switched to glossy photo paper, which is thicker and seems holds up to the sticky southern weather better. It's my first attempt at following the natural lines to make a unique puzzle. I initially made it for my niece but she's still too little, so I haven't decided if I'm going to hang on to it, or give it to someone else, or try to sell it. (Obviously, copyright issues would be a concern.) Let me know what y'all think! Oh, and they were all cut from 1/4" Baltic Birch with a size 2 spiral/puzzle blade.
