I received a commission from my son-in-law’s sister for me to make her a piece of Intarsia as birthday gift for her husband who likes Beachy scenes, and more so, one that includes a Lighthouse. I happen to have a pattern, that was shared by Allen Barr on FB, of a slightly abstract version of a Lighthouse which she felt would be perfect. This is my interpretation of Allens Pattern. I first needed to convert his PDF of a paper print into a digital file so I could reduce his 15” diameter size and print out the pattern on one piece of 13”x 19” (Super B) paper. The final piece, including frame, is a nominal 12 ½” diameter. Wood used: Aspen, Basswood, Black Limba, Blue Pine, Monkeypod, Padauk, Spalted Maple,Wenge, Yellowheart, and Quarter Sawn White Oak for the Frame. Finish is multiple coats of rattle can spray Clear Gloss Acrylic Finish. Comments and critiques are allways welcome.

I was really proud when I completed this little lighthouse . . . I was excited when I found this uniquely shaped bottle at a junk shop . . . But I was REALLY PROUD when I got the lighthouse into the bottle . . . And now for a ship !

Hey all...Hope everyone is good and busy scrolling. It's been pretty busy here, which is why I haven't been around for a while. I'm currently putting more stock together for a local market in Bridlington's Old Town. Every year in Early December, we have a Dickensian Festival constisting of various vendors of local produce and Christmas goods. Everyone gets involved with the Dickensian / Victorian dress code, which is always fun. This year, I'm putting together a display called "Beside The Sea", which will contain various traditional British seaside themed pieces. I recently decided to try my hand at Segmentation. These two are nearly 3ft in height and are mostly made from scrap pallets, or other offcuts. I have really enjoyed trying something new, and I'm sure I will now continue. The lighthouse colour piece is my second attempt, and I decided to try lifting the layers. (The actual lighthouse and bushes are all raised up). Thanks for looking, and as usual, I will spend a little time catching up on what your all doing (always interesting, and always surprised!). Kindest Regards, Nick
