  1. This year has been really hectic. I feel like I'm always playing catch-up. So, I was looking forward to November when I can slow down a bit and settle in. The weather is getting colder. I have the fire going with a nice cup of coffee. I thought this month's scroll saw challenge could be about coziness. It's a bit of an abstract idea since "Cozy" means different things to different people. But I think we're up for the challenge. Post a scroll saw project that means Cozy in your mind. Maybe it's a trivet for your favorite tea kettle. Napkin holders for your Thanksgiving table. A yarn bowl made for the knitter in your life. Maybe a scenic cutting of snow falling on the mountains or an old farm truck driving down a country road. I'd love to see what you come up with. When you post, tell us a little bit about it. I love the stories that go along with the projects.
  2. Halloween is over, now we're into November. This time of year always reminds me of big meals with the family with Thanksgiving and Christmas. We'd break out our nice tablecloths, dishes, and silverware. Then we'd share a meal with the family. So I this scroll saw challenge is about the table. It's pretty open to interpretation. But anything you'd use for sharing a meal with your family, table decoration, or personalization. So these could be things like trivets, napkin holder, name card holders, centerpieces, serving items, etc. When you post, maybe tell us a little family tradition you have. It'll be fun to see what you come up with.
  3. Autumn is certainly here. Leaves are dropping, the air is cool and the sun is low on the horizon. Some folks are getting snowed on. November always has me appreciating the change of seasons. Remembering the summer days, and looking forward to the Holidays ahead. This month, our scroll saw challenge is themed, Autumn. Post your scroll saw projects that say autumn to you. Is it potpourri boxes, candle holders, leaf trivets? Get creative. And when you post, tell us a little about it. I really enjoy the stories behind the projects. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
  4. Whenever I think of November, I think of farms and their harvest, and the ranchers getting things ready for the winter ahead. I think of apple orchards, pumpkin patches, and tractors plowing the fields. So this month, our scroll saw challenge is about the farmer. It's open to your own interpretation. What does it mean to you? Do you think of the animals, old tractors, beat up ol' trucks, old barns, farm house decor, or a lazy Sunday afternoon fishing at the creek? Post a project with that theme. Did you grow up on a farm? If so, let us know when you post a picture of your project, and tell us a little about it. I look forward to seeing what y'all come up with. And while you think about it, I'll leave you with song.
  5. Thanksgiving was a big event in our family. All the grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and family friends would all come together and enjoy a carefully prepared meal together. But as a kid, I never enjoyed the holiday. We always went to my aunt’s house for Thanksgiving Dinner. She had no kids of her own, which means it was boring! But as I get older, I’ve learned to appreciate those days and now have many fond memories. It was an opportunity to take time out of our busy schedule, slow down, and enjoy our friends and family. So when I think of Thanksgiving, I think of family. This month’s scroll saw challenge is around the theme of “Family.” What does it mean to you? Post a pic of a scroll saw project that illustrates your love of family, friends and thanksgiving. When you do, write a little something about it. I really enjoy hearing the backstory behind these projects. Have fun!
  6. Last month's Scroll Saw Challenge was a lot of fun. Some really cool projects came about. It was so much fun, I'd thought we'd try it again. This one will take a bit of creativity. The theme this month is: Giving Thanks This is completely open to interpretation. It could be a traditional Thanksgiving project. Or maybe a gift of appreciation for someone. A sentiment you want to express. Post your pictures here. It can be a finished project or a pattern you designed. Get the creative juices flowing and have fun! I can't wait to see what you come up with.
