  2. Few days ago I completed a project "SILHOUETTE ART USING A SCROLL SAW". It was cool and my hubby was helped me a lot on that. I never used a scroll saw before and I had no scroll saw as well. The first thing I did that, ordered a scroll saw after reading all those reviews made my hubby at his blog. Hopefully I got the best one for the beginner. I am too excited that my work is going to be featured at my own blog soon. I am just hunting for new ideas to make using scroll saw. Please share your best work using scroll saw here.....
  3. My wife surprised me with a new 16" King saw for Christmas. After using it some since Christmas I am very impressed. My previous saw was an old Craftsman 20" Professional. The difference is amazing. Very little vibration and the noise level is very low. I had done some fretwork clocks and a couple chess sets on the old saw that would have turned out much better on the King. First thing I removed were the top and bottom blade guards. Really enjoy being able to top feed. I was able to center the blade hole up after taking it off to remove the bottom blade guard.
  4. So I'm considering one of the two, a 1680 or 1800 and other than one being 16" or 18" and the 1800 has the side disc sander is there a great deal of difference between the two? I'm certainly not bent on Dremel as a brand, but I've seen both for sale (used of course) far cheaper than many others on the market. I like the idea of what appears to be quick blade change at least on the 1800, not sure about the 1680.. I haven't read too many negative comments about the 1800, but have seen a few negatives about the 1680.. My current scroll saw is an old 2 speed Dremel I'm forever having to modify and blade changing is a regular PITA.. I can no longer tighten the bottom clamp sufficiently without the risk of snapping an allen wrench. I've broken two already . So how does the 1800 fare compared with the 1680? Thanks
  5. Hello All, I'm from the Pittsburgh, PA area, and I'm 67 YO. I was a welding instructor up untill 2012. I now make Copper Items for sale on the interweb. When things were slow I thought I would try doing some scroll saw work. Seems OK, I've made some things, and believe I will continue this for a while. Also since I have some left over Copper, I thought I would mix...Copper and Wood. Of course I will Never be accused of being a photographer...LOL ---> 8-)
