Hi all, Please bear with me if I already asked this question. Memory started to slow down for me. What finish is best for a hot plate made from 3/4 red oak? I would appreciate your experience. Thx Sam

Today I cut this trivet from an Islamic geometric design. Just for fun, here is the piece of reclaimed rimu I used. I know I should have cleaned it up first but I wanted to get cutting.... I was almost tempted to leave the old paint on one side but in the end sanded it off then dipped it in 50/50 BLO and applied a beeswax topcoat. Rob

Not sure where I found the pattern for this one. Chrysanthemum trivet about 6 inches or 15cm diameter. 53 holes in all. Rob

I finished cutting this about a week ago and have dipped it in Danish Oil twice and it is now dry and ready to use. I'm planning on holding onto it for a fair I do in the fall. I think it really turn out well. I used some #9 ultra Reverse that were sitting around, which is a much larger blade than I usually use but it seemed to work well but I think a #7 might be a better choice, I got some strange marks on the inside of curves that I think a slightly smaller blade might eliminate. At four inches across, this is barely a trivet but that was all the timber I had available. Great floral design by Kepy. Reclaimed Rimu finished with BLO and a beeswax topcoat. Rob
