kywoodmaster
I bought this the other day. Don't reall know why. Thought I would remount it and atach a reastat to make it variable speed. Lady that I got it from says that she thinks that it is early 1950s model and has the original motor and allen wrench. Couldn't find the owners manual though. Am I crazy??? Edited September 24, 2015 by kywoodmaster Falcon and oneleggimp

kardar2
I wish the MFG'S today still knew how to build good quality suff like that. Time to refurbish it and make it shine again. oneleggimp

NC Scroller
KY if the motor is not designed to run at variable speed attaching a reastat (really spelled rheostat) will only burn the motor out in short order. Then it will be worth only $5.00 per hundred pounds at the junk yard. oneleggimp

Kepy
Those saws used a step pulley to make them variable speed. I had an old Delta and it was a workhorse although didn't do too well with fine blades as the spring pull was hard on them. oneleggimp
oldhudson
As long as you have the room and money, you're not.
ike
Scott is right that motor is not a venerable speed motor, get a step pulley and go that way. I worked on motors for 27 years and don't do it. oneleggimp

PS if it werent for spelling and wrighting grades I would have been a streight A student (LOL) my mother and all my teachers told me that I suck at spelling. oneleggimp
ROFL....I am with you on that one. TBT I had to look up the spelling of rheostat myself. I did very well in speling (won several "spelling bees") but every elementary school report card always had the remark "Ernest's penmanship is atrociious". This continued for most of my adult life In 1998 I ended up on a Ventilator with a Trach tube in my throat for over four Months and couldn't talk so I had to write notes to Doctors, Nurses, Repiratory Therapists etc. My writing (printing) improved greatly.
