Dan
I would add the spirals. I don't use them much, but when I need them it's good to feel comfortable using them. Also, I'd add drill bit sizes to the chart. I see the question on "what size drill bit should be used" a lot. Good post. LarryEA
Bendita
Great post Larry but I would like to add one more and that is a #9 flat that I use a lot for straight lines, like the outside edges of portraits etc the blade is wide as to not let it wander to much. But a great starter list. LarryEA
Jim Finn
It depends on what kind of scroll sawing you plan to do. I can see using spiral blades for fretwork but the surface of the cut on them is very rough and will require sanding, There are many other uses for a scroll saw including: Toy making, Intarsia, segmentation, inlay, lettering, compound cutting and bowl making .I do not do fretwork...yet and do all the others listed and I do them all with Flying Dutchman Polar #5 blades. #7 also works. Aedinger
Ok I must be using a #4 maybe???18.5 TPI. The closest store that seems to support any kind of woodworking is a Lowes so maybe I should order a variety of blades online. I do have a spiral that my husband picked up for me but again still learning. I can definitely see the ease of using these with some fretwork but not for straight lines. LarryEA
Order from either or both of these places. They also are good sources of information. Very reliable and quick response. LarryEA
Local stores are too high priced and have poor selection. Actually by calling either MIke or Sloans, you could get their opinion as to what blades you should get. Best idea I've had today...
